Thoughts
for the New Year Linda

As
another year begins, we count our blessings during the past year and
wish for continued health and success for the year ahead. I hope that
each of you had a good year, both personally and professionally.
About this time, most of us are making New Year’s resolutions—to
lose weight, exercise more, stop smoking, etc. Here are some suggested
work-related New Year’s resolutions you might want to consider
for your development office.

Development
Office Resolutions for 2008:
|
|
|
- Concentrate on the top 10% of my donors and develop a moves
management system to track donor relationships.
- Clean up our donor database to make sure it is providing us
with the information needed to build donor relations and accurately
report our progress.
- Recruit a power house Development Committee to implement our
development plan.
- Do an honest evaluation of the development staff and make sure
the right people are doing the right tasks.
- Eliminate any activities or events that do not focus on building
better donor relationships.

Linda's
Blog is Here!
|
|
|
You
may recall a few months ago, we promised our blog was coming. We just
launched our blog as of Jan 1, 2008 — The
Fundraiser's Coffee Break. Although I will be sipping herbal
tea while answering question and comments on the blog, we thought
this would be good time for fundraisers to take a break from the routine
of getting that grant out the door, drafting that direct mail appeal
that just has to be out this week, and planning yet another special
event. This is your opportunity to comment, ask questions and share
good ideas on any topic relating to fundraising and nonprofit management.
So visit our blog
and get started.
