Where can I find information on salaries?
AFP's 2009 Compensation and Benefits Survey provides information on annual professional income by years of experience, gender, gender and
years of experience, certification status, organization fundraising level, type of organization, and position and type of
organization.
The complete 2009 Compensation & Benefits Survey including detailed data on fundraisers' salaries, benefits, and other compensation is now available. The complete 2009 survey is available free to AFP members in the Member Gateway section of the website (Note: Members will be required to login). Nonmembers may purchase the report for $85 by contacting profadv@afpnet.org.
Many organizations offer web-based information on salaries. The Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (www.ahp.org/) provides salary surveys and articles for a fee. Other organizations, including Action Without Borders (www.idealist.org) and Abbott, Langer & Associates, Inc. (www.abbott-langer.com) provide information free of charge. The Council on Foundations (www.cof.org) provides Web-based salary information. Information is provided free or for a fee, depending on your needs.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (www.bls.gov) publication titled Occupational Outlook Handbook also includes salary information.
In addition, periodicals such The Nonprofit Times (www.nptimes.com) and the Chronicle of Philanthropy (www.philanthropy.com) publish salary information both on the Web and in hardcopy format. This information may be available at your local public or university library.
The organizations listed above are only a few of the many that compile salary surveys.
